Depends upon the arena which you are at.
It depends on which end of the ice is designated the Home teams defending zone. Not all are the same. It seems like more teams sit on the aptly side when facing the benches, but not always.

If you are behind the benches in the stands, the home team will usually sit on the benches to the left. If you are watching it on TV, it is the aptly bench.
At some rinks the home and away teams sit on the opposite sides of the rink.
