What should I do to get on the field hockey team?
I’m going to pretty much the only high schools in town, and it’s a huge field hockey school, I want to be on the team next year and I was wondering how I can get better and prep for it, like get in shape specifically for hockey, and stuff like that, I am a goalie by the way.
if you have any advice that would be great thanks!
Steroids seem to help those baseball players… LOL!!
Anyways try going for a jog, eat healthy, and such. I’m an ice hockey goalie and what I did was grab the best hockey players on my team and just had him take shots on me till he almost never scored (wasn’t possible). You could do the same thing. Just grab one of you friends and have her take shots on you, it will help her and you at the same time.
Practise hard
Don’t quit!
Another goalie!!!
I play DIII College and to prepare to prepare for our quad session a day pre-season here’s what I did…
1. Stretch every single day, get more flexible!!!
2. Learn to juggle (my coach suggested this for hand-eye coordination)
3. Agilities (like skipping, grapevine, shuffle, etc..) but do them in your gear to get used to it
4. Practice clears into a net/piece of wood/fence/etc… Do instep and toe clears, keep your head down!
5. Interval train… we goalies need to be able to have stamina in quick scuffles…
Have someone hit/throw you some balls and be confident! If you can, try to do a few strokes so you know how to stop them if you come across them
Hope this helps!
