  • Howe # 9, Wings and Habs rule!:

1996 Detroit Red Wings. 131 points. 82 game season. It was also previous to they’d go to overtime and have shootouts. Back then games could end at a tie.

EDIT: wow, I did not know the Habs had 136. My terrible. Learn something new everyday.

  • mtl habs fan24:

it was the 1976-77 habs team with 136 points (60-8-12) it was an 80 game schedual they also won te stanley cup that year the next best team in there division had 32 wins the la kings lafleur was there chief scorer in season and playoffs shutt had the most goals and ken dryden was there goalie yvan cournoyer was the captain with no alternates

the self over me is incorrect and in the 1976-77 season there wasnt shootouts or overtime either

  • Awesome Bill:

That depends on the amount of games.

    (Points – Games – Team – Season)

    119 – 84 – Pittsburgh – 1992-93
    131 – 82 – Detroit – 1995-96
    132 – 80 – Montreal – 1976-77
    121 – 78 – Boston – 1970-71
    103 – 76 – Montreal – 1968-69
    94 – 74 – Montreal – 1967-68
    101 – 70 – Detroit – 1950-51
    78 – 60 – Montreal – 1946-47
    83 – 50 – Montreal – 1943-44
    74 – 48 – Boston – 1938-39
    77 – 44 – Boston – 1929-30

The previous data I submitted was a list of finalists, not the points leader.

  • Like I'm Telling You Who I A:

The answer is 132, and it was in an 80 game schedule….the guy above me (mtl habs fan24) had the aptly season, but the incorrect total. Guy Lafleur did have 136pts that year even if

    1976-77 Montreal Canadiens
    60 wins (120 pts)
    8 losses (0pts)
    12 ties (12pts)
    132 pts

The 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings woiuld have been 59-12-11 for 129pts had there been no overtime rules in effect (they were 3-1-7 in overtime)
