what career could i choose that would let me coach a field hockey team?
im a senior in high school and i really love field hockey and i play for my team. i will play in college also. i am undecided on what career i would like to choose, but i really want to coach or do something sports related. my parents told me to become a teacher but im not sure if i would like to. any ideas?
For coaching high school field hockey, yea, teaching is probably your best bet. There is just one thing you need to consider. I’m in college right now working on becoming a teacher, and you really need to make sure that you’re interested in teaching students, not just the coaching aspect. It won’t be fun for you or the kids if you teach only to coach.
I did have a couple coaches in high school for soccer who weren’t teachers though, they just knew the head coach who was a teacher. If you have some teaching connections and there are open coaching spots look into that in your future also.
You should become a teacher or a PE teacher. My field hockey coach is an AIS math and reading teacher at the elementary school.
