In the NHL, coaches are sometimes wrongly fired, either for leading a snakebitten team, a personality conflict with a primadonna superstar, or the ownership simply does not like him. My question is simply this: as far as former NHL coaches go, which one do you feel was wrongly fired and deserves another chance?

For one day Al Arbour not only celebrated what is good in hockey, he also won one for a much-maligned class of world citizens: the senior kind. If well in mind and moderately decent in body, can a senior citizen coach full-time in today’s NHL? Something like the NBA’s Hubie Brown, or baseball’s Frank Robinson, Felipe Alou, or Jack McKeon?

Over time here we have talked about coaches who were giants in their profession (Scotty Bowman, Al Arbour, Toe Blake quickly come to mind). However, I have yet to see a discussion about the louts of the coaching pedigree. Who have been absolutely lousy leading in leading NHL teams?

Throughout the long history of the NHL, there have been numerous instances of players not getting along with their head coaches. The question here is this: which rift between a player and a coach has been the nastiest, most bitter affair?

My dad wants to coach my peewee team but he doesnt really have experience (he did play junior hockey though). What kind of drills should he run? How do you pick lines? Or give me a link where he can find good coaching tips. Thank you

im a senior in high school and i really love field hockey and i play for my team. i will play in college also. i am undecided on what career i would like to choose, but i really want to coach or do something sports related. my parents told me to become a teacher but im not sure if i would like to. any ideas?
