The Red Wings.
above
here’s a couple excellent players to pick that are sort of under the radar. Alexander Semin he’s just as excellent as ovechkin in the scoring specialty maybe better and he’s amazingly quick.
Anze kopitar the kids got a bright future and he can score goals.
Philippe Boucher defense he’s 1 hell of a defender and he also can score for ya he got a hatrtick last season and was 3rd in scoring for the stars
Mike Ribeiro yea he’s knon in montreal for faking injury but dont let that fool ya he’s got some excellent moves and he cans score
for 1 of your back up goalies you should grab Mike Smith
He went 12-5 last season and he had 5 shutouts including 1 in his first game. or nicklas backstrum the wild goalie
Do not get any Red Wing players except for Nicklas Lidstrom, Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk, trust me, the wings are a very balanced scoring team no one player scores a lot, but instead all the players score a small, that’s not what you need in fantasy hockey. Players that you should try to get (no particular order):
Sidney Crosby
Alexander Ovechkin
Dany Heatley
Jason Spezza
Paul Stastny
Joe Sakic
Jordan Staal
Vinny Lecavalier
Marty St. Louis
Henrik Zetterberg
Pavel Datsyuk
Ryan Smyth
Alexander Semin
Marc Savard
Joe Thornton
Marian Hossa
Jaromir Jagr
Daniel Briere
Evgeni Malkin
Anze Kopitar
Eric Staal
Those are forwards who I reckon will score a lot next season and will be beneficial to your team, there’s probably some guys I forgot, but this is just off the top of my head. Try to get 2 players from the list above. As for defensemen, you don’t really need them that much, they don’t score a lot, don’t dissipate your high picks on defensemen, unless it’s either Lidstrom, Niedermayer, Pronger, or Gonchar. Defensemen should usually be drafted in the lower rounds, get D-men that will give you a lot of penalty minutes (you need that) like Kevin Bieksa or Steve Montador. The most vital parts of any Fantasy hockey team are the goalies, you should always have at least 2 better than average goalies on your team. Here are the premier goalies that should do sweet excellent next year (no particular order):
Marc-Andre Fleury (plays for the Pens so he’ll win a lot)
Roberto Luongo
Martin Brodeur
Jean-Sebastien Giguere
Miikka Kiprusoff
Ryan Miller
Henrik Lundqvist
Niklas Backstrom
Kari Lehtonen
Ray Emery
Tomas Vokoun
You should absolutely try to get at least one of those guys on your team, if not 2.
Overall, the Yahoo player rankings are usually sweet excellent, if you’re in doubt during the draft, it’s okay to just go for the highest rated player, even if you don’t know him that much.
Add:
Yes David D, Jarome Iginla and Brendan Shanahan should certainly be on that list, but again, I’m not vacant to list every excellent player in the league. Sean Avery is certainly a must for any fantasy hockey team, I can’t judge I forgot about him, he scores and his PIMs are through the roof. And yes, I was incorrect, I did mean Niklas Backstrom the goalie, not NiCklas Backstrom the center that’ll play for the Caps.
Mike sweet much got it all there. I’d throw Brendan Shanahan and Jarome Iginla into the mix, too. For later rounds, as much as people despise him, Sean Avery puts up excellent numbers in the categories that count. He puts up a lot of penalty minutes, and he can score. He’s sweet versatile on a fantasy team.
Also, I wouldn’t gripe about this too much, Mike, but there are two in the NHL now, with different spellings. The goalie is Niklas Backstrom with no ‘c’. Nicklas Backstrom is a center for the Capitals, so if you’re drafting a team, pay attention to that.

My forwards are kinda of in order. I really like Marc Savard whenever I reckon of any fantasy team he’s one of the first players I’d try to get a hold of. Also, I’m a Cheechoo fan.
