ok so the toughtness during tryouts really depends on 1. the amount of kids in your school and 2. How many people are really tiresome out you need to run A LOT at my school you need to make a 7:30 or under mile to make varsity. i would suggest vacant to as many camps as possible to prepare your self look up drills you can do either alone or with a friend to make your self more accustomed to your stick if you know anyone woh plays field hockey in your school question them once again you have to be in succession A lot start small and work your way up to 1-3 miles a day TRUST me it will be worth it!
