First Line: Mahovlich, Yzerman, Howe. Note that this is not based on “the very best,” but on which of the best would work the best collectively.

Second Line: Hull, Esposito, Richard. Not sure if one puck is enough to go around there, but try stopping any of them.

Third Line: Bucyk, Beliveau, Lafleur. After the Huge M and the Golden Jet, the left wing choices get a small slim, but even even if he’s a Bruin, the Chief should work well with Beliveau and Lafleur.

Fourth Line: Abel, Keon, Lemieux. Not Mario. Claude. I need some toughness outside of Gordie.

    First Defense: Harvey and Orr.

Second Defense: Shore and Stevens. Try getting past those two without a bruise.

Third Defense: Robinson and Potvin — and the first self who says “Potvin sucks!” serves two minutes for annoying.

Goaltenders: Roy, Sawchuk 2nd, Plante 3rd — maybe in 2 years, after he’s broken the wins and shutouts records, I’ll go Brodeur up, but even even if I’m a North Jersey native, i can’t place him there yet.

You may have noticed two absences. Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux are ineligible. They are traitors to the game for siding with the owners in the 2004-05 lockout. So I’m locking them out.

Head Coach: Scotty Bowman, with Al Arbour and Jacques Lemaire as assistants. Come to reckon of it, either Arbour or Lemaire would be a excellent choice to substitute on this team as a player, too.
