There are two types of roller hockey, Inline and Hardball. Hardball roller hockey was featured in the Barcelona Olympic Games and was the 2nd sport to sell out in tickets. The first sport was basketball which featured Michael Jordon and the 1st Dream Team. Hardball roller hockey is skated in over 55 countries and was started in the 1800′s by England who passed it on to the European continent. England, Spain, Portugal and Italy then passed on to Africa, Australia, Macau, New Zealand, North and South America. The rules developed from soccer and have been bespoke over the years. The main difference between Hardball and Inline roller hockey is the equipment. Hardball roller hockey is played with a stick similar to field hockey in design and length with a hardball like field hockey. Hardball, unlike inline roller hockey, uses quad roller skates for quick maneuvers and starting and stopping.
