Can a 75 year old man coach on a regular basis in the NHL?
Fοr one day Al Arbour nοt οnlу celebrated whаt іѕ ехсеllеnt іn hockey, hе аlѕο won one fοr a much-maligned class οf world citizens: thе senior kind. If well іn mind аnd moderately decent іn body, саn a senior resident coach full-time іn today’s NHL? Something lіkе thе NBA’s Hubie Brown, οr baseball’s Frank Robinson, Felipe Alou, οr Jack McKeon?
why not?
If the self is in excellent health and has enough knowledge about the sport and about coaching I judge they can coach.
Why not? As long as he’s of sound mind and body it doesn’t matter how ancient he is. When I’m 75 I don’t want people to try and stop me from doing something I like just because of my age.
i reckon it depends on his health but probably not for too many seasons
hey i thought erica lost the bet why do you have a pens avitar if she has an islanders avitar ??????
one business we can say about the Pens/Isles game tonite is it has brought out class in everyone..Erica and yourself included..
to answer– if he still has a quick enough wit to call the line changes and plays, then hell ya..
My question is did he really do this tonight?
Mike– youve missed a helluva nighttime..
I reckon the travel and grind of a season would catch up sweet quickly to guy that age. Unlike baseball, these guys don’t spend 3-5 days in each city when on the road.
Those 3 cities and 4 flights in 4 days can’t be a lot of fun.
Sure. Heck he could do a better job than The Fantastic One. Wretched Wayne you were an incredible player, but not as a coach.
OK, wtf is wrong with you man??? I remember once you were nice, then you became a douchebag, then you got nice again, then you were a douchebag once more, now your nice yet again! W T F ?????????? Do you have that split-personality syndrome thing??? And why do you have Crosby as your avatar???

COPAS: Yeah I know, lol. I was at a birthday party. This sucks, everytime I DON’T watch the Avs play they lose! GRRR!! >:O
I reckon the travel would take it’s toll on a man that age. It’s possible to be in very excellent health at that age, but you need regular habits and a excellent diet. Dragging your butt all over North America (maybe all the way to St. John’s, Saitama or London during the preseason!) would make it tough to be well rested and well fed. The players themselves catch cold all the time from traveling from say…Phoenix to Edmonton.
I reckon it would be better because they would have more xp
Depends if they are smart enough to do it aptly and have fun
As long as there healthy and have a decent memory they can be just as excellent as a young self
Don’t kid yourself Mike – the real Jude is still problematic. Which would also clarify why I had 12 answers flagged for violations in the last 24 hours plus had my question removed – a leopard rarely changes his spots.
As long as the coach was still open minded enough to change his stylishness as the philosophy of the game changes, he should be fine. Sometimes older coaches want to stick with their guns when the shouldn’t. I reckon Al Arbour would be alright. If he got an offer, would he coach somewhere above and beyond the Island?
Sure.
Jude’s antics are amusing at times.
if he wants to and the teams wants him to then what’s stopping him?
